Strengths & Weaknesses
KNOW YOUR STRENGTHS, PLAY TO YOUR STRENGTHS
What are your weaknesses?’ we are always asked.
As you grow up you were told often to work hard in areas that you were not doing good. The more you tried, the more you got frustrated. We have been told to if fix the areas we are not good at, so that we can be great. Is this how great people do it? No! They focus on their strengths.
When I saw the video by Marcus Buckingham, ‘Playing to Your Strengths,’ it resonated with what I suspected. These are my thoughts on how important your strengths are to your success.
You have to start NOW, to know your strengths! The older you become the more difficult it is to go back and play to your strength. Your strengths drive your performance. Know your strengths. Know what is inside of you. Explore your capabilities. However surround yourself with people strong in your weakness.
What will take you to the top is not eliminating your weak areas, but maximising your strengths. So do not waste time fixing your weaknesses but focus on your God given strengths.
Some people are so much afraid of going down such that they get stuck trying to fix their weaknesses and never rise to the top with their strengths. You see, you were created for your strengths, not for your weaknesses. You can never reach your full potential without realising your strengths. And you cannot live a true fulfilled life without tapping to your strengths.
There is always resistance when you make up your mind to discover your strengths, but do not be stopped by these ‘dream killers.’ Friends and family may disagree but you know yourself more than them. Be true to yourself. Know which doors to enter and which to slam shut.
Rise above your discouragements, rise above your dark past, rise above the current situations, rise above the voices of ‘dream killers.’ Take time to pursue the areas that you think you are gifted in. Seek to pursue and explore other areas that interest you. Start as a learner and with time rise to be an expert in that field!
